how to put a link in your Instagram story
The swipe-up link is gone. What replaced it is the link sticker, and every account has it now — you do not need a follower count or a business profile. The catch is that it looks like every other sticker, so it is easy to miss and easy to post in a way nobody taps.
adding the link sticker
- Open the story editor with the photo or video you want to post.
- Tap the sticker button along the top. It is the square smiley face.
- Find LINK in the tray. It is not always first, so scroll or search for it.
- Paste your link. Under the field there is an option to change the text on the sticker — use it (more on that below).
- Tap Done, then drag the sticker where you want it and post.
That is the whole mechanism. Instagram shows the sticker as a white chip with the address, or your custom text, in blue.
getting people to actually tap it
A link sticker on its own reads as an address, and people do not tap addresses. Two things change that.
Say what happens when they tap. The sticker text is yours to write. "send me a song" gets tapped; "sixseven.link/lena" does not, because it tells nobody why they should.
Put it where a thumb expects a button. A sticker floating over the middle of a photo reads as decoration. On a card that has a button drawn on it, the sticker sitting on that button reads as the button.
what to link to
A story is up for a day and seen for about a second, so the page behind the sticker should do its job without asking anything first. A page that plays your songs the moment it opens, or that asks one question and has a field to answer it, works in a second. A page of ten buttons does not.
That is what a sixseven page is built for. It makes the story card for you — your songs, your question and a search box drawn on it — and shows you where the sticker goes, tap by tap, before you open Instagram.
